I am 63 years old and currently living in Hunchun, a town in China near the border of North-Korea and Russia. I was born in Turkey and of Turkish origin, but I was raised and lived in North-Korea since my third. My mother loved the Dutch language and she could speak a few words in Dutch and therefore she gave me the Dutch name Phillemonmonniksma. Since it became too dangerous for me to live in North-Korea, I moved to Johannesburg when I was 44. I lived there for less than a year before moving to Hunchun as I still felt ethnically North-Korean, I wanted to be near my home country.
I'm a cloth-maker and it is what I love doing next to making funny images and alternate history maps. My favorite singer is Frank Sinatra and I actually like all food except for tomato soup, which I can't stand.
I also collect languages and I'm capable of speaking fluent Korean, Chinese, Turkish, French and English. I can also speak a few words of Russian and German and quite some Greek, thanks to my daughter (who lives in Ednire, which is very near Greece and much Greek is spoken there and has belonged to Greece once). Countries I admire are Korea, Turkey, Greece, England, the Netherlands, Belgium, France, Spain, Brazil, Suriname, Canada, Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Finland, India and South-Africa.
I am also an animal lover. Because of that I don’t have any fur-clothes in my cloth-shop and I’m a vegetarian. In Korea I once had a cat (친구), but a neighbor shot him and ate him for dinner. I got angy and since then I didn’t have such a good relationship with my neighbors in Korea. I have learned and not taken a cat any more, because they are considered food in China and Korea. Next to that I also love travelling and I've been in a lot of countries.
